AWCplus is a 2nd generation family business that was founded in 1975. What started out as a one-man operation headquartered in the family home, has grown into a successful small company that has weathered the economic ups and downs of the past 38 years. While our size and location may have changed, one constant remains since AWCplus began- quality service, delivered by trained staff, for a fair price.
After running several small businesses, Lisa Despart brought her extensive leadership and business skills to AWCplus when she took over as President in 2003. Through the implementation of marketing strategies, business development plans and employee recruitment/retention programs, business has grown extensively under her direction.
Stephen Despart, as Vice President, taps into his extensive 30 years of industry experience as he heads up field operations. Ensuring jobs are done properly, efficiently and, most importantly, safely, fall under his jurisdiction.
AWCplus does very little advertising, with most of their work coming from referrals. A company that grows without advertising says something about that company. There is comfort level that comes from working with AWCplus. It comes over time, it comes with experience, and it comes from satisfied customers.
AWCplus has successfully met Empire State Development (ESD) and WBENC (Women's Business Enterprise National Certification) standards as a women owned enterprise. Both Empire State Development and WBENC’s national standard of certification are meticulous processes including an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women.
“I’ve had many customers ask if AWC is a certified woman owned business because they are trying to meet diversity goals.” Says Lisa Despart, owner of AWCplus. “Having this certification will help my current customers meet their initiatives while enabling them to use the services of an
established vendor. Additionally, I will be able to welcome new customers seeking to work with a WBENC who can deliver the quality, professional services they need.”
When asked why they are different from other companies, without hesitation, one of AWC's employees said "because we get stuff done". As Lisa Despart points out, "We've been blessed with a staff that does just that- gets the work done. You will not see three AWCplus employees standing around while one works." Their experience, coupled with their knowledge of the industry, sets AWCplus apart from others. With employees averaging over seven years with the company, their customers appreciate the consistency and peace of mind when seeing familiar faces.
AWCplus recognizes the importance of a relationship with professional organizations. They welcome the opportunity to tap into the knowledge and expertise of fellow business owners and CEO's. AWCplus believes these associations not only help to make them a better business, they help them to be an ever evolving company.
Reducing our Carbon Footprint
AWCplus has been environmentally friendly long before it became trendy! Sponges, squeegees and shammy cloths are all tools of our trade which are cleaned and re-used until worn out.
Our cleaning methods are safe for your home, business and the environment. No harsh chemicals are used for window cleaning. We only use a BIODEGRADEABLE NON-TOXIC CLEANSER or our WATERFED POLE SYSTEM to get the job done.
Water fed pole cleaning, also known as Reverse Osmosis (RO), is at the cutting edge of window cleaning technology, using a reverse osmosis water treatment system in order to produce 100% pure water. When applied to glass the result is a sparkling clean window every time. The osmosis process is completely environmentally friendly, and uses no chemicals or detergents. Pure water dries to a flawless finish and as the window is left sterile with nothing for dirt particles to adhere too, the problems associated with soap residue that traditional window cleaning methods can suffer from, become a thing of the past.
At our office, we practice "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle":
- AWCplus prints as little as possible, opting for electronic communication whenever possible
- AWCplus uses scrap paper for all interoffice printing
- AWCplus eliminated individual water bottles and replaced with an office water cooler
- AWCplus collects returnable bottles and donates to local non profits
- AWCplus participates in the trash recycling program of their hauler
Giving BackAt AWCplus, we believe it's not only important to be a good company and employer, but a good community member as well. We value the importance of giving back and make a conscious effort to instill this in our employees. AWCplus has staff volunteer days built into our schedule and encourage our employees to volunteer outside of work hours. Some of the organizations AWC (and its employees) have worked with include Habitat for Humanity, Unity House, Junior Achievement and Regional Food Bank.
"Your employees were one of the best groups we've ever had and are welcome back anytime!" - Regional Food Bank
